Catelynn Lowell Shares Heartfelt Struggles with Adoption
Catelynn Lowell has recently opened up about a deeply personal and painful chapter in her life. On September 9, the former Teen Mom star took to social media to reveal that she and her husband, Tyler Baltierra, have been barred from communicating with their daughter Carly. This heartbreaking situation stems from the couple’s decision to place Carly for adoption back in 2009 when she was just a baby.
The emotional toll of this development is evident, as Catelynn expressed her distress over the situation. In her Instagram Story, she stated: “Adoption is crazy,” further elaborating on her feelings by saying, “I’m blocked all because of me sending updates and pictures of her sisters… how is that fair for Carly and her siblings?”
Viewers first learned about Carly’s story during Catelynn and Tyler’s appearance on the reality show “16 and Pregnant.” The couple had a chance to reunite with their daughter last summer on an episode of “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter,” where they brought along their three other children—Novalee (9), Vaeda (5), and Rya (2)—for this special moment. Unfortunately, since that reunion, circumstances have taken a turn for the worse.
In light of these recent events, Catelynn shared how saddened she feels about the fractured relationship but emphasized that her primary concern lies with all involved children. She remarked: “When you’re a biological mom you have no say… no control.” Catelynn hopes that one day Carly will see how hard she has tried to maintain contact despite being shut out.
While expressing herself candidly about these challenges, Catelynn made it clear that she does not intend to criticize Carly’s adoptive parents publicly. She stated: “I am literally just sharing my own feelings; I’m not calling them any hurtful names or anything.” However, it’s apparent from her words that she believes there are better ways for everyone involved.
This situation is particularly disheartening considering how positively Catelynn has spoken about Carly’s adoptive parents in previous discussions. Reflecting on what might be causing this distance between families, Catelynn suggested: “At the end of the day I think her parents feel scared/threatened because Carly would ask questions about why we don’t get together anymore or why we can’t just fly to see each other for a weekend.”
Despite these challenges regarding communication with their daughter, both Catelynn and Tyler remain committed supporters of Carly’s relationship with her adoptive family. As Catelynn put it: “I will ALWAYS support Carly loving her parents. They love her and raised her! But keeping us distant does not help Carly.”
Tyler stands firmly behind his wife as they navigate these complex emotions surrounding adoption. He articulated his understanding by stating: “Most will never know what it’s like to grow up nurturing such beautiful innocence like your own baby… only to painfully relinquish that natural bond so another can do what you know you cannot provide for your child.”
As they continue facing this difficult journey together as a family unit while respecting boundaries set by others involved in their daughter’s life—Catelynn remains hopeful for future connections where love can flourish among all parties concerned.
