We bring you some unfortunate news from the realm of reality television:
Kenny Law, a prominent figure on the show Moonshiners, has passed away at the age of 68. The sad announcement was made by his cousin, Henry Law, who shared that Kenny died in a local hospital in Virginia on Tuesday.
In his later years, Kenny faced numerous health challenges. Although an official cause of death has not been disclosed, it is known that he struggled with various medical issues as he aged. According to Henry Law’s statements to TMZ, Kenny dealt with diabetes and suffered a heart attack last year.
Recent reports indicate that these ongoing health problems were compounded by a severe blood infection that led to his hospitalization just days before his passing. As noted by TMZ, “Kenny’s body just wore out after fighting both the infection and his underlying conditions.”
Funeral arrangements have already been organized, suggesting that this loss was somewhat anticipated. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, followed by a graveside memorial service on Saturday.
A Legacy in Distilling
Kenny became well-known as part of Moonshiners when it premiered on Discovery Channel back in 2014. Together with Henry Law, he co-managed Law’s Choice Distillery located in Franklin County, Virginia—a business rooted deeply in their family history dating back over two centuries to their ancestor Amos Law.
The distilling tradition they upheld not only showcased their craftsmanship but also highlighted the rich cultural heritage associated with moonshine production.
Many friends and fans have expressed their condolences following Kenny’s passing. Amanda Bryant, one of his co-stars from Moonshiners, referred to him as “a true moonshine legend” and shared her heartfelt sentiments on Instagram: “You will be dearly missed; it was an honor to know you and call you my friend. Rest easy Big Guy.” She also extended prayers for the entire Law family during this challenging time.
Remembering Kenny
While those close to him were aware of his declining health status leading up to this momentous loss, it does little to ease the pain felt by those who loved him dearly. At 68 years old—though he lived life fully—his departure feels premature.
As we reflect upon Kenny’s contributions both personally and professionally within the world of reality TV and distilling culture alike, our thoughts are firmly with all who mourn him during this profoundly difficult period.
