Apple recently introduced the Apple Watch Series 10 during its ‘It’s Glowtime’ event on September 9. However, the tech giant did not present a new version of last year’s Watch Ultra 2, aligning with predictions made by Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst from TF Securities International. Kuo had accurately forecasted in October that there would be no release of the Apple Watch Ultra 3 in 2024. Additionally, there has been no update to the Apple Watch SE model as of yet. The analyst has now provided insights into potential timelines for these upcoming smartwatches.

In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Kuo indicated that Apple is expected to launch the Apple Watch Ultra 3 in 2025. He also mentioned that an updated version of the Apple Watch SE (2nd Generation) will be released three years after its current iteration was launched.

Kuo’s statements suggest that both models—the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and a refreshed third-generation SE—could debut in Q3 of 2025, which aligns with Apple’s typical schedule for unveiling new smartwatch and smartphone products. These releases may coincide with the anticipated iPhone 17 series, set to replace Apple’s newly launched iPhone 16 lineup.

Earlier this October, Kuo had predicted that there would be no successor to the Watch Ultra 2 this year due to delays in development for a new model. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman echoed this sentiment shortly before Apple’s launch event by stating that only a new color variant for the existing Watch Ultra 2 would be introduced.

Kuo further noted that if no new model is announced next year, shipments for their flagship watch could plummet by up to thirty percent compared to previous years and total shipments across all models might see a ten percent decline.

As it stands now, it appears that consumers can expect only one upgraded smartwatch from Apple in 2024: the Series 10 model. Furthermore, rumors suggest an upcoming launch event in October where we might see fresh iterations of Mac Mini, iMacs, and MacBook Pro devices powered by Apple’s latest M4 chips.
