YouTube Enhances Shorts Features for Creators

YouTube has rolled out exciting new tools for creators of its short-form video feature, Shorts, available on both Android and iOS devices. This update allows creators to personalize the thumbnails of their short videos by incorporating text, filters, and emojis. Furthermore, users now have greater flexibility in selecting thumbnails even after their YouTube Shorts have been published. This enhancement is part of a series of recent features that YouTube has been testing, including an automatic playback pause function.

In a recent video shared on the Creator Inside Channel, YouTube elaborated on these new capabilities. The update introduces options for adding text and filters directly to the thumbnail selection interface; these options will appear as floating buttons in the upper right corner when choosing a thumbnail for a short video.

Enhanced Thumbnail Customization Options

With this latest update, users can not only select but also modify their YouTube Shorts thumbnails post-upload on both Android and iOS platforms. By implementing these highly sought-after features, YouTube aims to provide creators with more artistic control over how their short videos are presented across various devices. These customized thumbnails will be visible in search results as well as on hashtag pages and audio pivot pages.

Looking ahead, YouTube has indicated that it is considering additional enhancements for Shorts thumbnails in the upcoming year.

YouTube Premium Subscription Price Increase

In another development affecting its user base in India, YouTube recently announced an increase in subscription fees for its Premium plans. The Individual plan—designed for single-user access—has risen from Rs. 129 per month to Rs. 149 per month. For those utilizing the Family plan option, costs have escalated from Rs. 189 per month to Rs. 299 per month.

For students seeking ad-free viewing experiences at a lower cost, the Student plan remains the most economical choice; however, it too saw an increase from Rs. 79 per month to Rs. 89 per month following this price adjustment.

These changes reflect ongoing trends within digital content consumption where platforms continuously adapt pricing structures based on market demands and user feedback while striving to enhance user experience through innovative features.
