Theakston explained that the cancer was detected through a biopsy procedure. At 53 years old, he conveyed his determination by stating, “I have cancer—but it does not define me.” He emphasized the encouraging nature of his prognosis and expressed hope to return to the airwaves in October.

In light of this situation, Theakston has been advised to rest his voice while leaving listeners in the capable hands of Jason King (JK) and Amanda Holden. He extended gratitude towards them and the entire Global family for their unwavering support during this challenging time. “Cherish each day,” he encouraged fans, adding that when they reunite, he will have an inspiring story to share.

Heart Radio took to Instagram to express their solidarity with Theakston, referring to him as “our beloved Jamie.”
